Lately I’ve been thinking about making you a mother's day gift guide but the idea felt really generic! When I shop for my mom I love to think about what she's actually into. Thankfully for me she’s into cooking (can you imagine if she wasn’t?!).

So in this mother’s day gift guide I’m listing out the best cookbooks to give your beautiful momma this year.

Most of the cookbooks I own are actually gifts from my mom over the years. She even gave me this really old muffin recipe book that I used to pour over as a child, it has all these eclectic drawings of muffins with eyes, mouths, and legs.

Sounds bizarre but as a kid I thought it was truly fascinating!

This line up includes iconic home cooks, interesting types of cooking, to beautifully presented hardcover books.

Best Cookbooks To Give Your Mom

When choosing a cookbook for your mom, it’s important to not only think about whether she’ll enjoy or be interested in making the recipes but the quality of the book itself. Is it made of good quality materials? Will your mom hide it on a shelf? Or a coffee table book that she would use to help decorate her home?

In the end, I’m sure anything you choose to show her your appreciation will be loved. Because at the end of the day, all she needs to know is that you thought of her!

1.The New Easy by Donna Hay

I’m going to preface this with the fact that I also own this cookbook! It was a beautiful gift from my Aunt I believe (sorry mom if I have the wrong!).

I 100% adore this book, the recipes are broken up into sections that actually make sense, you have your midweek dinners, weekend meals, and desserts.

The pork belly recipe is one of my favorites for a Sunday or serving a crowd and the photography in this book is phenomenal (it gives me a personal crisis moment).

I’d say this is one of the best coffee table books or décor I own.

2. Modern Comfort Food: A Barefoot Contessa by Ina Garten

I’m sorry but could we get any more classic? When it comes to idolizing a cook, nothing quite beats a homecook you can relate to and admire all at the same time.

Ina Garten embodies comfort food cooking, as she describes it as “emotionally satisfying” food.

3. Martha Stewart's Fruit Desserts: 100+ Delicious Ways to Savor the Best of Every Season: A Baking Book

It would be absolutely remiss of me to not mention the Queen, the holy grail, the epitome of domesticated goddess, Martha Stewart.

Now I want to start this off with a she’s twice my age and honestly twice x 100% better looking than I (something for me to think about later while I cry into my fruit galette).

This is a great gift for your mom, this is definitely a beautiful coffee table book perfect for the Spring Summer season we are in.

4. Ferment: A Guide to the Ancient Art of Culturing Foods, from Kombucha to Sourdough by Holly Davis

Now don’t let the title of this book fool you! My mother gave me this book in 2021 for Christmas and it is hands down one of the most interesting cookbooks I have read.

You’ll get a huge collection of different recipes ranging from beginner to experienced and from making yogurt to perfect sourdough.

This cookbook is also filled with beautiful food photography (as a photographer myself you can imagine how much I love this!).

5. Baked to Perfection by Katarina Cermelj - The Loopy Whisk

Let’s begin with Katarina’s Instagram The Loopy Whisk. One of my favorite home baker accounts on Instagram!

She creates gluten free recipes and they are absolute heaven. I’m personally not gluten free but can appreciate any type of baked good.

She has a ‘healthier’ chocolate brownie recipe that I’ve made on countless occasions.

If your mom is gluten free then this is the perfect mother’s day cookbook gift and if she’s not, then this is still the perfect gift!

6. The Christmas Chronicles by Nigel Slater

It may say Christmas in the title but it’s a gift you can give anytime of year ?(trust me I own a copy!).

This particularly exquisitely bound book will make your mom smile, again it’s perfect for placing on a coffee table or spine out on a bookshelf.

The modern cool gray with rose gold accents are timeless. I own a copy of this book and it is so interesting and thoughtful. Nigel Slater has a tendency to use fruits and vegetables in his cooking which I love. Plus he’s British.

7. Taste: My Life Through Food by Stanley Tucci

Stanley Tucci. Enough said.

Okay I’ll say more than that but you catch my drift. Young or old, which mom doesn’t have a crush on him? Hell I do (sorry hubs).

No but seriously apart from the fact that he’s kinda one of the most beautiful men out there (controversial? We’ll watch the comments and see), he’s also a fantastic home cook with an eye and palette for simple ingredients made delicious.

A perfect gift for your mom.

8. Desserts Illustrated: The Ultimate Guide to All Things Sweet 600+ Recipes by Americas Test Kitchen

If you’re anything like me you a. LOVE dessert and b. Want bang for your buck.

Well this cookbook well and truly provides!

You’ll get 600+ dessert recipes that honestly will keep your mom going for the next 2 years.
