Creamy Garlic Sage Chicken

Mouth watering Creamy Garlic Sage Chicken is a comfort food flavor bomb! The trick to getting that rich flavor & gorgeous golden color is frying the chicken and garlic in butter till golden but not burnt, then rubbing the chicken on the bottom of your skillet before flipping!

I love ordering a creamy garlic chicken when I am dining at a restaurant, not one of those gluggy thick dishes! I’m talking about the light, rich, and fresh dishes that always has a handful of fresh herbs. This dish is inspired by THOSE types of creamy garlic chicken.

Now for my favorite part, tips!

Tips For ThE Best Creamy Chicken:

  • Cook that chicken & garlic till it’s golden (but not burnt). All stove tops & skillets are different so reduce heat or increase based on what you are seeing in your skillet pan!

  • Use butter! The flavor & golden deliciousness will be your reward.

  • You could use chicken tenderloins instead of chicken breast, cooking times may vary.

  • If you find your sauce is evaporating too fast, you can add more liquid at the midway point or/and reduce the heat.

  • Serve with seasonal greens! Personally I think some quickly blanched green beans are perfect with this chicken.

Enjoy! x

Creamy Garlic Sage Chicken

Serves: 4 - 5

  • 1.6 - 2 lbs / 3 large chicken breasts

  • 2 - 3 tablespoons butter

  • 4 cloves garlic chopped

  • 1 cup chicken or vegetable stock

  • 1 cup full fat cream

  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

  • Salt & cracked pepper to taste S&P

  • 6 - 7 large fresh sage leaves chopped

Directions

  1. Half the chicken breasts length way, so you have 6 thin chicken breasts. Use a sharp knife, hold the chicken flat with one hand, carefully slice the knife through the side of the breast (knife should be at a 90 degree angle). Repeat for all chicken.

  2. Place a large cast iron skillet on a medium - high heat. Add butter.

  3. Once butter is melted, lay halved chicken breasts in the skillet. Season with salt & pepper. Cook for 5 minutes, until the chicken almost looks cooked through.

  4. Before you flip the chicken, use tongs or spatula to press chicken down and rub it on the pan for 20 - 30 seconds. Flip the chicken.

  5. Reduce heat to medium. Sprinkle the garlic around the chicken. Cook for 3 - 4 minutes. Garlic should look golden.

  6. Add stock, cream, garlic powder, S&P, & most the sage (keep a little for garnish). Stir & scrap the bottom of the skillet.

  7. Reduce heat & simmer for approx. 15 minutes or until chicken is cooked through & sauce is thick.

  8. Garnish with the sage. Serve with some delicious seasonal vegetables.
