Bluestone Lane San Francisco Review

Looking for a coffee shop that serves up a proper latte or cappuccino? Then head on over to Bluestone Lane cafe, once I found it in San Francisco I went every single morning!

Overall Bluestone Lane Cafe San Francisco Review

If you’re from Australia or New Zealand and need a proper coffee then head straight to Bluestone Lane cafe in the morning. If you’re American, then head straight to Bluestone Lane because you will get the best cafe style coffee and their fresh/healthy breakfast/brunch options are perfect for on the go, you may even convert from drip coffee! The staff are ridiculously nice (even to unannounced photographers!).

The cafe itself is super stylish and clean, they take their branding right through from logo to overall cafe design, I have a penchant for blues so this was really a treat for the eyes.

Now you may be asking yourself, is it actually good enough to go daily? The short answer is yes and the long answer is below.

Bluestone Lane Coffee and Food

Now if you’re new around here I’m a oat latte kind of gal, single shot please or I will have a nervous breakdown. So with that in mind I had 1 x coffee for $5.60 and once or twice I also ordered the protein PB & blueberry smoothie for $11.45.

I never ordered the toast options because usually I don’t eat bread before lunch (is that a thing?), so I can’t comment on their toast options but their coffee and smoothies were definitely delicious and worth it.

Ordering is done through one of the ordering screens at the front when you first walk in or you can order at the counter. I found the staff so friendly and nice, they were very kind about me taking photos unannounced!!!

She’s Going On A Journey

I had heard of Bluestone Lane cafe before actually hitting it daily when traveling to San Francisco, there’s one by Central Park on the Upper East side in New York that I’ve never been able to find? Supposedly it’s on the way to the MET and I’m here to tell you that I’m blind because try as I may, I’ve never even glimpsed it.

There are many Bluestone Lane cafes around the city and country. I personally went to the one in the Theatre district on Sutter Street, it was down the road from my hotel and I burned about 393500 calories when walking back to my hotel.

Tip: If you're walking along Sutter Street look out for the bright blue umbrellas, I almost thought I had turned the wrong way as it’s tucked away into the front of the hotel but it’s there!

Bluestone Lane Café Design

I really love the upmarket beautiful nautical branding Bluestone Lane has developed, they take this vibe right throughout their design for the entire café from the coffee cups, décor, to the tiling and paint work. It’s super stylish and cool.

When you walk into their café you’re met with a harmony of blues and bluish grays with a bright forest green tile accent. They have added touches of plants which gives a relaxed air and that outdoor Aussie (and Kiwi!) vibe. In love.

I love seeing a food establishment really pull all their designable elements together, it seems like such a small thing but even the color of their grout around the tiles was the right shade for the blues and greens that are used throughout the entire coffee shop.

Also they use their branded coffee bean bags as décor elements which is pretty interesting as eCommerce products and especially packaging tend to change over time. But they currently go with their tiles so I’ll be interested to see what their café design looks like in 5 - 10 years.

Are Bluestone Lane Cafes From Australia?

I’m from New Zealand (Kiwi) which is Australia's neighbor, now I know the Bluestone Lane cafes are supposedly an Aussie influence thing. Well they ain’t…well not completely.

I’m used to a good proper oat milk latte from New Zealand and brunch is where we thrive so this cafe is an Aussie thing but it’s also a Kiwi thing. That’s why I love it because they serve caffeine the right way, ooooh it’s a risky statement but I’m pretty sure they mention the same thing in their branding.
