Dark Chocolate Covered Strawberries Recipe

Fresh strawberries are used in this fun simple strawberry dessert, I prefer the bigger ones but check they aren’t overripe and I leave the green leaves on because it gives you something extra to grip while eat them!

The dark chocolate is then melted in a double boiler or you can use the residual heat from bringing a small amount of water to the boil, turning off the heat and placing a metal bowl on top of the pot to melt the chocolate.

Fresh walnut’s are then crushed/finely chopped, placed in a dry pan and toasted for several minutes until golden and richly flavored.

All that’s left is a quick assembly!!! Line a plate of baking tray in parchment paper, dip the luscious strawberries in the melted dark chocolate, roll in the toasted walnuts, sprinkle with sea salt, and then place on the baking tray.

Place in the refrigerator for 20 minutes or until the chocolate has reset into a hard cover. They are ready to serve!!!

Tips For The Easiest Chocolate Covered Strawberries:

  • Make sure the strawberries are ripe but not overripe, under ripe is super unpleasent plus using the dark chocolate means you need the sweetness from the strawberries, overripe strawberries are just…..need I say more!!!

  • I have use a Lindt 78% dark chocolate block but you can choose whatever you have on hand or prefer. Milk chocolate is a lot sweeter than dark chocolate so it’s totally fine to use but the recipe will be on the sweet side for all you sweet toothes!!!

  • You can swap the walnuts for any other you prefer, I think almonds, pistachios or hazelnuts would go great too!

  • So fun to do with kids, you can set it up in a line for the different steps and they love this!
