Tips For Easy Fruit Crisp:

  • You don’t have to perfectly rub the butter into the dry crisp ingredients, butter lumps are your friend!

  • If you use a different size baking dish adjust the cooking time. The bigger the baking dish the less time it will take and the opposite is true for a smaller baking dish.

  • You can use any fruit you have on hand; apple, blackberries, raspberries, blueberries, mango etc.

Deliciously easy fruit crisp using strawberries and ginger!

Ingredients

  • 2/3 cup rolled oats
  • 3/4 cup flour all-purpose
  • 1/3 cup soft brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 1/4 cup white sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons ginger powder
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • Pinch salt
  • 1/2 cup cold butter, cubed
  • 2.2 lbs frozen strawberries

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 360 F fan bake. Pour frozen strawberries into a 9 x 13-inchoven proof dish. Any largish oven proof dish will do, adjust cooking times accordingly.
  2. In a medium size bowl add oats, flour, sugar, ginger powder, cinnamon, and salt. Stir it all together.
  3. Using your fingers rub the butter into the dry ingredients. Continue until you have chunking looking sand but some lumps of butter are still visible.
  4. Layer crisp mixture all over the strawberries. Place baking dish in the oven for 40 - 45 minutes approximately, until the strawberries are bubbling and the crisp is golden.
  5. Serve hot with whipped cream or ice cream.
